Pick a Pokémon, show a silhouette, done. Then I started thinking about fairness, solvability, what happens when two people want to race, and whether the gen III type plates would look better than flat icons. Three months later I have five game modes, a canvas town with roaming Pokémon and NPCs you can walk up and talk to, a safari where you actually catch the things, and a server that has never seen a Pokémon in its life because it refuses to let the client know what the answer is.
